The questionable actions  of several of these modification companies have hurt the individuals who participate in their programs,  and  they have tarnishes the public opinion towards good, honest attorneys who are working to help people save their homes through legitimate defenses and counterclaims. 

All too often families, thinking they can't afford to talk with an attorney,  or looking for an insider edge, seek this non-licensed help.  Then, when the poor advice leads inevitably to a stranger arriving at their door and handing them a summons and foreclosure complaint they find themselves both financially drained and gun-shy on seeking outside assistance.  It is a true shame.

Talk to a licensed attorney in your state.  If you can't find one you can afford do not be afraid to talk with your local Legal Aid Office.
